Journey Through My Craft Room Organization #2

Well, I've actually made some progress! In spite of the limited space, I felt I needed a place to sort everything out in my room, so I purchased a 6-foot foldable table. This has helped tremendously and, as you can see, I can now see the top of my beautiful glass-top desk again!

TIP: When sorting out your papers, books, magazines, find a large surface where you can spread out. This will make your sorting go much faster!

After I put away/throw away/file all the stuff I've sorted, I'll start on another paper-laden area and continue in the same way until all paper items have been put in their proper places. Stay tuned...

Journey Through My Craft Room Organization

I originally created this blog so that I could share my cardmaking ideas and projects, but as I survey the mess I've made in this room, I had to tell myself "first things first"---clean up the room first so that my creativity will flourish. So, over the next few months, I'll be entering blogs on the progress of the organization of my craft room. This is a spare-bedroom-turned-craftroom which has been reduced to a junk heap due to the disorganization of my numerous rubber stamps and other craft items and equipment. I don't normally share my angst over this situation publicly, but I think it's time for a little self-embarrassment to give me the incentive to finally, in the words of Larry the Cable Guy, "git 'er done". Don't get me wrong...I've cleaned it up many times, but because I haven't developed an attitude of "a place for everything, and everything in its place" it gets overwhelming. I’m continually purchasing items and equipment for my cardmaking without having a proper place for them once I’m finished using them. I guess this whole situation is kinda like “the tail wagging the dog”. These pictures (my computer desk and my rubber stamp storage area) are a sneak peek into the problem...

TIP: When you decide on a designated space for your cardmaking/scrapbooking, make sure you know how you’ll store your craft items when you’re not using them.

I’m not sure where I’ll start, but since paper/mail/books are the main problem, this looks like a good place to begin. If I take the time to categorize all my materials, I may organize according to the type of item, i.e. paper, mail, rubber stamps, diecut/embossing machines and accessories. When I discover little gems of advice in my journey, I will gladly pass them on to you. What do you think? I welcome all suggestions and comments.

Finished Wedding Program

This is the finished wedding program for a customer.  The cover is in SU! Blush Blossom cardstock and the inside pages are an ivory embossed linen paper from OfficeMax.  It is held together by a coffee-colored satin ribbon from Michael's.  The decorative font is called Taggets and the regular font is called Garamond.  The customer showed me an inspiration card and I went from there.  The front is stamped with a decorative background stamp called Baroque from Stampin’ Up! The final touch was to round all the corners.  Thanks for looking!
